Denver Democrats Condemn Use of Buckley Space Force Base for Immigrant Detention Processing as well as the ICE Raids.

Military infrastructure should not be weaponized for partisan attacks on vulnerable communities.

DENVER – The Denver Democratic Party strongly condemns the use of Buckley Space Force Base as a processing center for detained immigrants. This reckless decision by MAGA Republicans is yet another example of their agenda of fear and division—using our military infrastructure to inflict indiscriminate harm on vulnerable communities instead of upholding our nation’s values of dignity and due process.

Weaponizing our military against immigrants is not the answer. It’s a dangerous precedent that does nothing to fix our immigration system and instead fuels cruelty and chaos. We urge all Coloradans to stand against these inhumane policies and demand action from our leaders in Congress.

Furthermore the recent ICE raids in Denver represent a grave violation of human rights, causing fear, uncertainty, and trauma among immigrant communities. These raids are a direct attack on families and individuals who are contributing to the city, and they foster a climate of fear and division. We must stand united in condemning these actions, as they only undermine our values of justice, compassion, and respect for human dignity. It is essential that we work towards policies that protect all residents, regardless of their immigration status, and that we prioritize the safety and well-being of our communities above divisive and harmful tactics. We must demand an end to these inhumane practices and ensure that Denver remains a sanctuary where all people are treated with fairness and respect. These actions sow fear, separate families, and undermine the values of dignity and justice that we stand for in Denver. Denver is a place of inclusion, and we will not stand by while our neighbors live in fear. Stay informed, stay vigilant, and stand in solidarity.

Take Action

Call congress and tell them to oppose this misuse of military resources: (202) 224-3121. Denver is represented by:

  • Senator Michael Bennet

  • Senator John Hickenlooper

  • Congresswoman Diana DeGette

  • Congressman Jason Crow

  • And Governor Jared Polis (303)866-2885

Denverites may make use of the following resources to assist as Trump continues his inhumane program:
Together, we must push back against extremist policies that betray American values. Denver will not stand by while our military is weaponized against those seeking safety and opportunity.

Staying Strong: Being a Democrat in Trump’s America

In the face of chaos, division, and attacks on our values, being a Democrat in Trump’s America can feel exhausting. But now, more than ever, we must stand together, stay engaged, and keep fighting for the future we believe in.

Holding the Line

The MAGA agenda thrives on fear and misinformation, but we have the truth—and the majority of Americans—on our side. While Trump and his allies try to rewrite history, suppress votes, and roll back progress, we remain committed to protecting democracy, defending fundamental rights, and ensuring a government that works for everyone.

What We Can Do

1. Stay Informed. Disinformation is one of the biggest threats we face. Follow credible news sources, fact-check claims, and call out lies when you see them.

2. Speak Up. Whether it’s at family gatherings, online, or in your community, don’t let extremist rhetoric go unchallenged. Having tough conversations can change minds.

3. Take Action. Support Democratic candidates, volunteer for campaigns, and vote in every election—local, state, and national. Trump’s America is what happens when we sit out.

4. Build Community. You’re not alone. Connect with like-minded people, attend events, and find strength in the movement.
