Let’s Harness our New Volunteer Energy
The number of new volunteers pouring into our e-mail boxes has been amazing since Kamala Harris was endorsed by President Biden and Tim Walz was selected as her running mate. So let’s put that enthusiasm to work and get our POs trained! Together, we’ll make sure to:
Train our Central Committee volunteers to run all of the VAN Votebuilder reports that our Precinct Organizers (POs) need.
Help current POs match volunteer work to all of these new volunteers.
Take advantage of the in-person VAN Votebuilder training classes I’m offering—I’ll go wherever I’m needed!
Here’s How You Can Help
Make sure you have enough space, WiFi and seats for your class. Students who attend will bring their own laptops, get on the internet, log in to Votebuilder and run these reports together.
The prerequisites to taking these classes would be current POs who:
Own a laptop.
Can easily log in to a new wireless network and VAN Votebuilder without assistance.
Have previously (and easily) logged in to MiniVAN on their smartphone.
We’ll Offer 2-Hour Classes on the Topics Our POs Need
If you can provide the space and students, I can teach on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only. Let’s offer this training ASAP, so the POs who’d like to provide reports and training to all of their new volunteers can do so at once.
Take a look at topics I can teach:
VAN reports for GOTV walkable (Canvassers need these reports).
VAN reports for GOTV inaccessible building voters (Block captains use these reports).
VAN reports for GOTV ballot chasing. After running these reports, we would put the list numbers into MiniVAN on our phones and talk about chasing ballots.
Running reports for recruiting volunteers within a precinct.
Your students (all current POs) would need to decide on the reports they want to try so we cover just what’s needed for this cycle's GOTV.
Now’s the Time To Hit the Ground Running—No PO Left Behind!
Once you have a room, date and time confirmed, I plan to advertise the event to the other HDs so students can choose dates and times that more closely match their busy schedules.
