Dear Denver Democrats,
This has undoubtedly been an intensely challenging month for our country and party. Amid persisting pleas from voters and lawmakers for President Biden to step aside as a candidate for re-election, political violence of the vilest kind manifested in an assassin’s bullet attempting to eliminate a choice, ultimately taking the life of an innocent man shielding his family and wounding two fellow Americans participating in our democratic process.
This unprecedented election has presented us with confusion and frustration, as Americans and as Democrats. The overwhelming noise and ambiguity in Washington left many of us feeling uncertain as to who our party’s nominee would be this August. Like many of you, I am frustrated and disappointed in how this process has unfolded. Yet, we must not feel defeated, for this election still presents us with a clear choice. With the President ending his candidacy and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as our presumptive nominee, it is crucial to remember that whoever tops the party ticket, a vote is cast not simply for the name on a ballot, but to propel an extraordinary movement of policies and ideals powered by tens of millions of Americans. When we vote, we are not only demonstrating trust in a candidate to lead and govern, but also championing the platform we have built and believe so strongly in.
This is especially true in what is the most consequential election of our lives. We have made historic progress under the Biden administration, but in concert with Project 2025 and Agenda 47, the GOP ticket threatens to not only reverse that progress, but compromise the integrity of our democracy and institutions.
There are moments that define a party and a people. Let us meet that moment. To ensure our country is headed in the right direction, we must focus on keeping the White House, preserving our Senate majority and taking back the House. There is too much at stake this election, and our vision for America can only be realized if we show up this November.
To President Biden, thank you for your extraordinary leadership and service to this great nation.
Sincerely,
Matthew Logan
Asst. Secretary
Democratic Party of Denver
