On June 27, the Democratic Party of Denver lost one of its long time leaders. Ralph Nordhauser was Captain in four different House districts even though he lived at the same address. Ralph was a Democratic Party volunteer for almost 70 years starting as a teenager in Northwest Denver, culminating in 2010, when Ralph received the DPOD Lifetime Achievement Award.
Ralph was a trusted advisor to US Senators, Congresswomen, Governors and Mayors. Candidates for these offices as well as State Senate, State House, City Council and Denver School Board sought his extensive knowledge on what works in getting elected in Denver. On occasion the answer was not what the candidate wanted to hear, but it was always truthful.
In addition to politics, Ralph was a successful businessman and was active in the community associations in the Mayfair/ Montclair neighborhood. He had a network of contacts that was useful on so many levels.
Above all else Ralph was dedicated to his late wife, Eleanor and his two children Lisa and Steven. He was a longtime friend and mentor to me and is the sole reason that I am a Captain in the DPOD. I will miss him and his advice
