Join the Democratic Party of Denver in honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the MLK Marade and Celebration

WHERE: City Park at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. The memorial statue is located in the park north of 17th Ave. between Detroit St and Fillmore St.

WHEN: 9:00 AM DPOD will start gathering at 9 AM on the west side of the MLK memorial statue. Look for the Democratic Party of Denver banner.

PROGRAM: 9:30 AMSpeeches and presentations will take place at the memorial statue.

MARADE: Starts at 10:45 AM.

ROUTE: The Marade will proceed south out of City Park by way of Esplanade St. to Colfax Ave; then west on Colfax to Sherman St. onto the State Capitol grounds; South to Broadway to Civic Center Park. (Total distance equals 5K)

CELEBRATION AT CIVIC CENTER PARK: The Celebration program immediately follows the Marade in Civic Center Park’s Greek Theater.


Parking: Look for parking on the street or in the East High School parking lots on Josephine St. between Colfax and 17th St.

Don’t or can’t walk 5k? Consider meeting up with us along Colfax as the Marade proceeds toward Civic Center Park. You may also wish to go directly to Civic Center Park for the celebration which takes place at the conclusion of the Marade.

How do I get back to City Park after walking downtown?

  • Take public transportation to and from the event. Check RTD schedules online or call 303-299-6000.
  • Consider going as a group with 2 cars. Park one near Civic Center Park prior to 9 AM and drive the other to City Park.
  • Take a cab or Uber back to City Park
  • Take the #20 Bus from Broadway and 17th St. The #20 will run every 30 min. It goes east on 17th Ave. with stops at Josephine St, Fillmore St., Garfield St. and Colorado Blvd. The fare is $2.60. Be sure to have exact change.

Donations: Non-perishable food, hygiene supplies and clothing will be collected at both City Park and Civic Center Park.

Dress warmly, wear comfortable shoes and bring water. The Marade takes place regardless of weather.
